I am the mother of two amazing children (thus far) and an Army
wife. I was inspired to become a doula
after the birth of our second child. My
doula, now mentor, completely supported me mind, body and spirit through my
second pregnancy and beyond. It was this
experience that fueled my desire to give that same kind of support to other
pregnant women and their families.
As a military spouse I have a clear understanding of giving
birth away from your support network of close family and friends. I know the chaos that moving brings and all
that is entailed re-establishing your family in a new community. (We have recently pcs'd (moved) 7 times in as many years.) Our family is no stranger to deployments. I understand what it means to put your
total trust & faith in someone at a time when you need unconditional
support.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Clarkson University. I have completed DONA approved birth doula training through the Academy of Certified
Birth Educators and Labor Support Professionals, Kansas City, and currently
working toward my certification with Doulas of North America (DONA).
I am a volunteer doula with Operation
Special Delivery, offering services to women whose husbands are deployed, have
been seriously injured, or who are no longer with us.
When I’m not unpacking boxes, running the kids to school
& activities, or obsessing over the wonder that is the birthing process, I
enjoy just being with my family, knitting, sewing, felting, reading, bellydancing, not unpacking,
traveling Europe while we have the opportunity, and doing anything outside.
Thanks for visiting my website.
